The law firm of Elrod Friedman LLP is proud to announce that Marcus Martinez has joined the firm, focusing his practice on municipal law, land use, zoning, entitlements, real estate transactions, eminent domain, and litigation.
Prior to joining Elrod Friedman, Marcus served for 13 years as an Assistant Corporation Counsel in the City of Chicago Law Department, most recently in the Real Estate and Land Use Division. There, he advised City agencies and officials on complex condemnation, zoning, and development matters. He negotiated numerous land acquisitions and sales, leases, redevelopment agreements, intergovernmental agreements, rights-of-entry, right-of-way acquisitions, and property exchanges. In recent years, he served as counsel to the Chicago Zoning Board of Appeals
Marcus also has extensive litigation experience, having overseen the City of Chicago’s eminent domain program.
His extensive legal experience, as well as his broad and deep contacts and relationships with key government representatives and civic leaders, make Marcus a strong addition to the Elrod Friedman land use and municipal law team.
